Newcastle Squash has a proud history, with plenty of action between the four walls stretching back over the last 50 years!

From the days of junior squads like ‘Amor’s Angels’ and ‘Rippon’s Rebels’ competing against each other, to the ‘King of Squash’, the world’s greatest ever player Jahangir Khan taking on Geoff Hunt at the International Squash Centre in the 80s, Kurri Kurri’s Heidi Mather playing on the women’s world tour and home grown juniors like Matthew Karwalski making Commonwealth Games and Australian squads during his career – there have been plenty of highlights across the years!

We continue to see local juniors rise to state and national teams, have several Australian Defence Force and Masters champions, and have former top 40 world ranked players both involved in pennants competitions and coaching.

We also host our own Newcastle / Lake Macquarie Open tournament every year, with former world number one Michelle Martin among those on the honour roll as past winners.
